“Brown Sugar” by Amacie Comix, July 2023

Welcome to Black Love LIT Lounge. I’m your host, Torri but in these literary streets, I go by @blackromanceconnoisseur.

Our Place, Our Space

The Black Love LIT Lounge is a dedicated space where the beauty and depth of the Black Romance genre are celebrated without reservation. This isn't just a blog; it's a refuge for lovers of Black love—authors, readers, and content creators alike. In this lounge, we don’t have to justify the significance, vitality, and beauty of Black love in all forms of media [Books, Art, Television, Movies].

This is our community. While social media is great for our conversations and making connections, this blog is my home base. Here, our conversations can be expanded without the confines of community guidelines or fighting the algorithms that favor content that doesn’t look like us. The Black Love LIT Lounge, as a blog, is more than just a collection of posts; it’s a platform for advocacy, celebration, and community dedicated to uplifting Black romance. I’ve spent the last couple of years curating book recommendations and creating content that captures my love of Black Love stories, and I plan to continue that here.

What I’m Into Currently

For this entry's "What I’m Into Currently," I’m reading Saint by Rae Anderson. On the music front, Her Favorite Spot by Jayson Lyric has been on repeat when I’m not reading. Also, I'm listening to #pillowtalkwithNic: A Night with Christina C. Jones, hosted by the talented Nicole Falls.

Before I wrap up this post, it feels like the perfect moment for a question inspired by one of my favorite movies, “Brown Sugar.” So, just as they ask, “When did you fall in love with hip-hop?” I’m turning the spotlight to you with a twist: When did you fall in love with Black Romance?

Drop your stories in the comments section—I can’t wait to read them. Until next time, keep celebrating Black love in all its forms.
